MIXED
Jili, China and Benedetta, Italy. They met in Shanghai in 2013, they decided to settle in Trieste, Benedetta's hometown, where they have lived together since 2015. They got married in 2016 in Portugal, and have a son born in 2020. For them, being a mixed couple means "two cultures that meet in respect”. There are cultural differences, and many compromises are needed, but they also bring much enrichment to both. Compromise because we belong to different cultures that have different sensitivities and above all different priorities, says Benedetta. The cultural differences have been highlighted above all in the way of experiencing parenthood, in the way of understanding education and the relationship with the child, says Jili.
